  • What does Catholic Charities New Hampshire do and what programs and services do you offer?

    Catholic Charities NH is human services organization supporting individuals in need, of all backgrounds and beliefs, throughout New Hampshire. For more than 75 years, we have brought lasting change to individuals and families struggling with a wide range of issues that impact communities across New Hampshire, such as hunger, poverty, financial despair, mental health, homelessness, unsafe environments for children and isolation among seniors.

  • What do I need to do to get help for myself or for a loved one?

    If this is a medical emergency, please dial 9-1-1. To receive help from Catholic Charities, you can do any of the following:

    2. Click the ‘Services’ page to find and contact a program that fits your area of need
    3. Click here to contact us through our website
    4. Call 603-669-3030 during business hours, M-F 8:30-4:30, to be connected to the right person to help, or leave a voicemail off hours and we will get back to you the next business day

  • Do you have to be Catholic to receive services through Catholic Charities NH?

    No. You do not need to be Catholic to receive help through Catholic Charities. We proudly assist individuals and families across New Hampshire of all backgrounds and faiths.

  • Does Catholic Charities NH serve the entire state?

    Yes. Catholic Charities NH has district offices located throughout New Hampshire and most of our services are now accessible to individuals in any town or city, virtually or by phone. Click here to view our list of programs.

  • Who does Catholic Charities New Hampshire serve?

    Catholic Charities NH serves individuals and families in need across New Hampshire. Everyone comes to us with a different story, but share common themes: they are living in crisis, overwhelmed, stuck in life, unable to develop a path forward – and often have nowhere else to turn. Examples are families struggling to get by on a daily basis, individuals who cannot afford many of life’s basic needs, mothers and babies on the brink of homelessness, seniors facing isolation, veterans held back by traumatic experiences or someone overcome by mental health challenges.

    Regardless of the stage of their struggle, our programs are designed to address the immediate and root causes of the challenges NH residents face, working with them to uncover and create opportunities to develop a more successful path forward.   • What types of community issues do you address?

    Catholic Charities NH responds to a diverse set of challenges negatively impacting the lives and communities around us, such as poverty, hunger, mental health, financial hardship, homelessness, isolation and more. Click here to learn more.

  • How can I give to Catholic Charities NH?

    Charitable donations are the foundation of the work of Catholic Charities New Hampshire. It is only because of the generosity of our donors that we are able to offer our programs and services, and in turn, bring hope and healing to our neighbors in need. We offer many flexible ways to support those we serve. 94 cents of every dollar go directly back to our programs and services. Click here for more information.

  • What opportunities are there for volunteers?

    Volunteers are essential to the work that we do at Catholic Charities New Hampshire – and it’s a great way for you to make a meaningful impact on your own community. We offer many flexible volunteer opportunities designed to accommodate your interests, passions and busy schedules. Click here to get involved.

  • I have some clothing and household items to donate. Does Catholic Charities accept these types of donations?

    Our Liberty House program, which benefits homeless and struggling veterans,  accepts select clothing, food and other household goods, based on current needs, which must be dropped off in Manchester. Click here for more information.

    Additionally, our New Generation program accepts in-kind donations for its Second Generation Thrift Shop, and has an occasional need for furniture donations to support our families moving from shelter into permanent housing. Click here for more information.

    In the Greater Berlin area, our Guardian Angel Thrift Shop accepts select clothing, collectibles, furniture and other household items. Please call 603-752-2902 to learn more.

  • Can I support Catholic Charities NH without giving a financial donation?

    Yes. We have many opportunities for volunteering, in-kind donations, third-party events and more. Click here for a listing of ways you can help.

  • Where should I mail my donation to?

    Donations can be made out to Catholic Charities New Hampshire and mailed to:

  • I donated to the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund. Is that the same thing as giving to Catholic Charities New Hampshire?

    No. A donation made to the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund supports grants to other organizations in New Hampshire consistent with the mission of the Roman Catholic Church. A donation to Catholic Charities directly supports our programs. Catholic Charities does not receive annual funding from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund. Donations for Catholic Charities should be made out to Catholic Charities New Hampshire and mailed to:

  • I donated to the New Hampshire Catholic Appeal (NHCA). Is that the same thing as giving to Catholic Charities New Hampshire?

    The NHCA replaces the spring parish appeal that Catholic Charities NH conducted in parishes across the state for more than 75 years. Starting in 2023, all parishes across the state will participate in the NHCA. Catholic Charities NH will receive a percentage of the proceeds generated through that appeal. Catholic Charities NH will continue to fundraise like we’ve always done through a number of fundraising revenue sources such as grants, direct mail, website, events, corporate sponsorships, legacy gifts, and various online fundraising activities.

  • I’m hearing that Catholic Charities is being fully funded by the NHCA, why are you continuing to ask me for support?

    Catholic Charities is not being fully funded by the NHCA. That would be an incredible feat! The NHCA intends to distribute proceeds to each of the special collections that have been combined into one appeal now known as the NHCA. The proceeds Catholic Charities will receive from the NHCA will never be more than what it normally would have raised during its spring parish appeal. We will continue to fundraise as we’ve always done through a number of fundraising revenue sources such as grants, direct mail, website, events, corporate sponsorships, legacy gifts, and various online fundraising activities.

  • Can a representative from Catholic Charities come to my organization to speak about your programs and services and how you are helping people in need?

  • Is Catholic Charities NH involved with the migrant activity at the US Southern border?

    Catholic Charities NH is an independent agency that is managed entirely within the state of New Hampshire and is not governed by any other Catholic Charities agency. We are not involved with active migrant activity or humanitarian efforts provided by other Catholic Charities, including any agencies that provide transitional services for migrants as well as the coordination and funding of travel throughout the United States.
