New Generation Receives $36,750 Challenge Grant from the Raskob Foundation

New Generation, which provides paths to permanent housing and stability for New Hampshire mothers and children experiencing homelessness, has received a challenge grant of up to $36,750 from the Raskob Foundation for Catholic Activities.

The grant will directly support New Generation’s safe shelter, transitional housing, and stabilization services for pregnant women and mothers with children who are homeless due to the lack of affordable housing, coupled with challenges such as domestic violence, financial hardship, and substance misuse.

“We are deeply appreciative to the Raskob Foundation for their support in furthering our mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness for local mothers and children,” said Elsy Cipriani, Executive Director of New Generation. “With demand for our shelter continuing to increase rapidly, this opportunity could not come at a more critical time. This means that every dollar donated will have twice the impact of providing safe shelter and a path forward for even more families facing unimaginable struggles.”

Families at New Generation receive life-skills coaching, parenting education, financial empowerment counseling, and connections to employment, which are key components for nurturing family development and setting the stage for a successful transition into permanent housing. Over the past year, New Generation provided more than 7,400 collective nights of shelter, with 22 families securing permanent housing.

After families begin living independently, New Generation continues to offer stabilization services to prevent the recurrence of homelessness and foster further self-sufficiency. 88% of families who receive these services maintain independent housing one year after moving in.
